The Sivananda Home is located one kilometre from Sivananda
Ashram and is a place of refuge for people who are destitute and in need
of medical care or shelter, and who may not have any other place to go.
It is therefore a temporary home for the homeless, and for those TB patients,
leprosy and AIDS patients and physically or mentally handicapped persons
who have been abandoned.
The Hospital provides both medical aid and rehabilitation for the residents.
Over the past year, 62 leprosy patients and 132 other destitute patients
were treated. On average there are about 50 patients residing in the Home.
The Sivananda Home provides a service for the poorest of the poor who
would otherwise not be provided by any other government or charitable
facility. The patients are treated with love and respect and are also
given minor tasks in order to help minister to their greater needs of
self-esteem and self-worth.
