The Centre of Peace Vibrations

Bhajan Hall was opened in the year 1942. This was the only hall in the Ashram for a very long time. And so, Satsanga and all other programmes were held here for a very long time. Here also we can notice the broad outlook of Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji. The Hall is decorated with pictures of various saints and sages. On one side, there is a Murti of Lord Kartikeya. One German devotee has herself made two Murtis of Durga Devi and Sarasvati Devi and gave to Gurudev. The annual 6-day Skanda Puja is performed here in the traditional manner.

The most noteworthy feature of the Bhajan Hall is the Akhanda Kirtan of Mahamantra. The devastation of the World War II had moved Gurudev so much, that he launched a peace campaign. And the most important item of the programme was this Akhanda Kirtan. It was started on 3rd December 1943 with the sole purpose of spreading peace currents throughout the world, and is continued day and night for sixty years non-stop. As a token of your keen desire for peace in the world, you also should chant the Mahamantra at least for half an hour whenever you are in the Ashram.
