Gurudev : The guru who teaches you the knowledge of worldly arts in the shiksha-guru. The guru who shows you the path of Realisation is the diksha-guru. Shiksha-guru can be many. Diksha-guru can be only one. Do not dig here and there shallow pits for getting water. Dig a very deep dig in one place. Centralise all your efforts here. You will get good water. Even so, try to imbibe thoroughly the spiritual teachings from one preceptor alone. There is no use of wandering from one man to another out of curiosity. From a doctor you get a prescription. From two doctors, you get consultation. From three doctors you get your own cremation. Even so if you have many gurus you will be bewildered. Listen to all, but follow one. Swamiji : Scriptures tell us that if we have accepted a brahmanishtha (one who is established in Brahman) as our guru, we should not change our allegiance to another guru. The spiritual connection or link is eternal. Upagurus (secondary gurus) however can be countless.
