IN MEMORIAM

GURU_GOVINDANANDA
Sri Swami Gurugovindanandaji Maharaj

We express our deep sympathy and grief on the passing away of Revered Sri Swami Gurugovindanandaji Maharaj of Imphal, Manipur on 5th January 2008. Sri Ningthoujam Nadiachand Singh as known in his Purvashram, was born on 10th July 1919 to pious parents—Sri Ningthongam Gulamjat Singh and Smt. Kulabati Devi. He grew up with exemplary character radiating his faith and love in God. When he came in contact with Param Pujya Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj in 1978 he was already serving the mission of Worshipful Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj in the capacity of Secretary of Divine Life Society, Imphal Branch. He was ordained into the Holy order of Sannyas on 25th April 1997. After 20 years of dedicated and fruitful service he was elated to the President of that Branch on 31st August 1998 and subsequently President of All Manipur Divine Life Society.

He was instrumental in spreading the message of Gurudev to nook and corner of Manipur by conducting Satsangas and Branch Meetings. The spiritual fervor created by him brought H.H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj to Manipur twice in 1985 and 1995.

Revered Swamiji Maharaj unfolded his spiritual being by totally surrendering to the ideals of his Guru. His all loving and all embracing nature always reflected the innate love that he had for Gurudev and His teachings. He has also translated Gurudev’s books into Manipuri language.

The devotees of Manipur due to their overwhelming devotion and reverence to Sri Swami Gurugovindanandaji Maharaj erected a Memorial Samadhi at the Meditation Hall of D.L.S. Imphal Branch where interment of his body took place on 6th January 2008 amidst Vedic chanting in the presence of large gathering of devotees and representatives from all religions.

We pray to Worshipful Gurudev to bless the departed soul of Sri Swami Gurugovindanandaji Maharaj with Supreme Peace and Eternal Beatitude.

M.Govindarajulu
Sri M. Govindarajulu Garu

A true devotee of Worshipful Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj and H.H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, Sri M. Govindarajulu Garu, left his mortal coil on 8th January 2008, Tuesday at 2.30 a.m., at Vizag, A.P.

He had moulded his spiritual pursuit by strictly following the footsteps of both the Masters. As an unopposed President of D.L.S. Berhampur Branch for five decades, Sri Govindarajulu served to disseminate Divine Life message through Satsanga that initially started on Sunday once in a week at his residence itself, worship of Guru Padukas and poor feeding.

We pray to Worshipful Gurudev to bless the departed soul of Sri Govindarajulu with Supreme Peace and Eternal Beatitude.

Sri Ramaswamy

It is with great sorrow that we record the sudden and unexpected passing of Sri Ramaswamy of our Ashram during the morning hours of 20-01-2008. Sri Ramaswamy was not suffering from any serious illness. In the early morning, he went to a nearby shop to drink his morning tea; suddenly he felt thirsty and drank a lot of cold water. In this condition he was brought to the Ashram and made to rest. After a while, he breathed his last.

Sri Ramaswamy arrived at Gurudev’s Ashram sometime in the early seventies, resigning a lucrative job in well known company. He was an excellent stenographer and a shorthand-typist to the point of perfection. For many years he served late revered Sri Swami Krishnanandaji Maharaj, the General Secretary of The Divine Life Society to his great satisfaction and admiration. After Swami Krishnanandaji Maharaj attained Mahasamadhi in 2001, he continued to served Sri Swami Nirliptanandaji Maharaj, Vice President, as well as the present General Secretary, Sri Swami Vimalanandaji Maharaj.

Sri Ramaswamy was a simple person. He hailed from a priestly family. His life was simple and unassuming. He never demanded things. He was very regular in his daily walks. He never mixed with people, nor did he waste his time in idle talk. He kept to himself, dedicated to his daily work.

In his passing, the Ashram lost a good worker. It is very difficult to find another person of his caliber. We pray to the Almighty to bless the departed soul of Sri Ramaswamy with Param Shanti and Satgati.
